Girly Movie Night!

My husband is leaving soon on a whirlwind motorcycle adventure with his dad, heading out West for about two weeks. They are excited (to put it mildly) and I am trying to think of ways to make myself excited about the prospect of being a single parent for a while. I came up with the idea of watching movies--lots and lots of movies--that my dear hubby won't watch with me because they're too "girly." I've got a few down so far, including STARDUST and BECOMING JANE. What else would you suggest?

On the writing front, I'm working on two WIPs at the moment. Trying to log 1,000 words a day on each. Exhausting! But fun.

This week on The 5 Randoms (http://the5randoms.wordpress.com) we're discussing Work Spaces and how they effect our creativity and production. Check out Robin Merrow MacCready's blog today!

Wow on the two WIPs. Do you find yourself wanting to work on one more than the other? Do you have to force yourself to stop?
Chick flicks? I'm not much help. We watch a lot of Scooby Doo around here.

PJ thanks so much for the link! I'm definitely going to submit my book for this...how awesome would that be?

As for the two WIPs, I find myself equally excited about both, and when I get hung up on one, I move to the other, and back and forth. It's actually very productive!

When hubby leaves, I watch whatever I want and I eat pancakes for supper. I never know what to watch either, so a cruise down the aisle of "New Releases" is necessary.

Pancakes for supper! Ha. I usually eat cereal. We're breakfast gals :-)

1,000 words a day. Wow! I never think of my work in terms of word count. I always think of it in terms of page count. About how many pages is that? 4? More?

My husband goes away on business trips all the time. I used to hate it at first, thinking only of the single parent thing, but now I actually look forward to it. That's not to say I don't like having him around... it's just, kind of easier when he's away for a few days.

I try to make it a fun thing for my kids so they are not sad when he's gone. We do all sorts of things he usually says no to. We go night swimming, definitely watch movies, the we all cuddle together in my bed at night, each with a book to read, and we do Mad Libs, play games, whisper adn giggle in the dark, tell secrets, etc. Since I have daughters, we make it a real girly time.

Oh and making a nice dinner is definitely out. With my husband gone, I dont' have to do that (not that he makes me, he'll eat anything really). My girls won't do breakfast for dinner, so we go out to eat when my husband's away. It feels kind of like a vacation... (And I mean that lovingly, I really do!:))

Angie and Shari,
We definitely have easy suppers around here when there's no husband around. Not that he demands his meat and potatoes; it's just that I feel supper was part of the vows.

Supper was part of the vows! Ha! I like that. It's so true though :-)
